In this post I would like to introduce this awesome Hutong Hotel right in the middle of Beijing. If you want to experience Beijing like a local ( lol, even though you will always stick out) book a room in this hotel. It's located right in a residential neighborhood. With super cheap street restaurants with huge 1 liters beers for only 5 cents.
The staff was super friendly and even though they didn't speak English and we didn't speak Chinese everything went very well. Rooms were clean and very nice decorated. But my favorite part part sitting in the courtyard at night after a full day of sightseeing. Having a beer (mentioned above) being surrounded by red lanterns. It really felt like a Samurai from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon will float over the roof any second.
We explored Beijing on bikes which were available directly from the Hotel ( there hotel offers them right now for free, more about it below) and thought this was an incredible way to discover the city. Was it safe. Yeah, just make sure you are always surrounded by other cyclists ;) .
